since 2009
THE DEVELOPMENT

More than 15 years have now passed since the small company Scheithauer Guitars was founded in 2009.
What began 30 years ago in my parents’ backyard has grown into a small, successful guitar-making business.

Several names were considered, many ideas were discussed, there was plenty of personal initiative and a good deal of courage —
but little experience and virtually no money. In other words, the perfect starting position!

After well over 20 years of working with and for my wonderful customers, I can proudly say:
It’s a pleasure working with all of you — whether it’s worn-out strings, pickup issues,
new guitar models, completely custom designs, dead batteries, small on-stage accidents,
broken headstocks, “I bought a cheap guitar — can you turn it into something expensive?”,
or simply a relaxed conversation in a cozy atmosphere.

Thank you all!!!

We live in a fast-paced and globally connected world, which has naturally made marketing products from our own production much easier.
As a result, Scheithauer Guitars has gained satisfied customers all over the world in recent years — not only in Germany and across Europe, such as Ireland, Portugal, Spain, and Italy, but also in Asia, Canada, Russia, and the United States. We are the world…!

Another fascinating aspect is the wide variety of instruments that find their way onto the workbench over time. This provides valuable insight into the market and allows one to truly appreciate and understand the work of esteemed colleagues.

As a company grows, so does the need for investment — and Scheithauer Guitars is no exception.
Nevertheless, I place great importance on exhausting every possibility to craft high-quality instruments by hand. That has always been the case, and it will remain so. Still, keeping up with the times can be very beneficial in order to maintain technological advantages in the future.

Since March 2021, a CNC milling machine has also been in use to improve particularly complex production processes and to further optimize the precision and fit of components. At the same time, this allows us to fulfill even more individual customer requests with accuracy.
However, handcrafting remains the top priority. Every instrument we build should be — and remain — a true one of a kind.

Some things have been left behind over time, while others remain just as essential today as ever.
Production tolerances must be balanced, new suppliers found, new formulas tested — all while striving to keep prices stable and customers satisfied. This is not always easy in a growing and globalized market.

All in all, the greatest joy lies in making music and in the connection to tradition and the art of true craftsmanship.
That is why Scheithauer Guitars exists. You’re welcome!

Through many years of experience, continuous market observation, and growing demand,
the stylistic direction of my products has—out of conviction—shifted exclusively toward relic finishes.
The visual impact of delicate relic techniques and the resulting feel and playability
complete my philosophy of an authentic instrument: a working tool, a lifelong companion.
